Andreas Christensen is enjoying life at Chelsea and has had a regular place in Thomas Tuchel’s starting lineup this season.

The defender’s contract runs down at the end of the current season and there is still no clarity over his long-term future at the club.

During October’s international break, the 25-year-old admitted “it looks good” when quizzed about renewal talks.

The centre-back has still not signed an extension and rumours started to surface stating he wasn’t pleased with the proposal made by Chelsea. The Denmark international, however, states that isn’t the case.

“I will not comment on it [regarding the contract]. I have said this to Høyer (Head of Communications at DBU] because you know everything that has been written,” BT quoted him as saying.

There were even claims the player doesn’t feel valued when compared to how much others earn at Chelsea. Asked if he can confirm these reports, he said: “I can’t do that at all. I feel valued, I’m happy, but I don’t get into the contract situation.”

Christensen said “hopefully soon” when asked when more clarity can be expected on his contract situation at Chelsea.

It was then put to the defender that in less than eight months from now, he won’t have a club. Responding to that, he explained: “No. But I’m still happy and I enjoy the football, so there’s not that much. I’m happy.

“Again, I don’t think about it [talking to other clubs from January] at all. I enjoy playing football and I don’t feel there is any pressure or anything. I just enjoy it. I don’t know why everyone thinks it’s a bad situation. No one has said it’s bad [for] both parties.”

When asked why it isn’t bad for Chelsea, this is what Christensen had to say.

“Because I’m still happy and I enjoy playing football. Yes [it’s in Chelsea’s interest to tie him down to a new contract], but on the other hand, they also have a player who right now enjoys playing football and the coach shows him confidence. There is no bad relationship, there is nothing,” the Dane stressed.

Christensen has repeatedly insisted he is happy at Chelsea and has made it clear there is ‘no bad relationship’ with the Premier League side.
