If there’s one player Napoli wouldn’t want to be without for their Champions League opener it’s Victor Osimhen.
The attacker is the star of the show for the Serie A side and was linked with €100m+ moves in the summer window, with multiple Premier League sides thought to be interested and keeping an eye on him ahead of future markets.
Corriere del Mezzogiorno, a newspaper local to Napoli, report, via CalcioNapoli24, that Osimhen could be absent for the match against Liverpool. That would obviously be a huge boost for Jurgen Klopp’s side, especially given they’ve not been as strong in defence recently as they have in the past.
Napoli are currently ‘doing everything’ they can to try and have the player available for Wednesday evening’s match, and if they can’t manage to succeed with that plan then their ‘whole approach would change’.
The Italian club’s tactics would be different as they wouldn’t have the pace and directness that Osimhen provides.
Elsewhere, CalcioNapoli24 say Hirving Lozano is also a doubt, although there seems to be more optimism around the Mexican’s fitness.
