Southampton star Graziano Pelle is set to fly out to China to complete his move to Shandong Luneng, according to claims in Italy. The Italy international has been linked with a number of clubs in recent weeks, but it now seems that he’ll join former Newcastle United forward Papiss Cisse at the Chinese club.
TMW have revealed there has been white smoke with Pelle signing for Shandong, a term often used by the Italian media in relation to the appointment of a new Pope.
It’s been reported Pelle will sign a two and half year contract with Shandong in a deal worth €40m when taking into consideration wages and the transfer fee. A number of top players have signed for clubs in China in the past six months and it looks like Pelle will be the latest.
It’s been well documented in the past six months the Italian forward could leave Southampton this summer after following the lack of a contract extension with the Premier League side.
Pelle was one of the standout players for Italy this summer in the Euros, and its seems his performances have a got him his big money move to China.
