It is an open secret that Chelsea want to part ways with Antonio Conte and replace him with Maurizio Sarri. The Blues have so far struggled to agree a deal with Napoli to bring the Italian to Stamford Bridge.
According to Alfredo Pedullà, the former Empoli coach’s dream of joining the FA Cup winners can be a reality and Napoli midfielder Jorginho can play a vital role in helping him join the Premier League club.
The Brazil-born Italy international has long been a transfer target for Manchester City. His agent has confirmed the Citizens’ interest in the player repeated times, but Pep Guardiola’s side and Napoli have so far not agreed a deal.
Jorginho has now emerged as a transfer target for Chelsea. The report claims the west London club are ready to pay a fee close to €60m for the midfielder. The English champions are aware of the interest from the Blues and have not ruled out the possibility of matching their league rival’s offer.
There has been direct contacts between Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, the Blues owner Roman Abramovich and Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia, most likely for both Sarri and Jorginho.
Alfredo Pedulla mentions that Sarri’s protégé is in ‘favour of the club’ that is owned by the Russian. This could also be the key to allow Sarri to join Chelsea as the discussions between the fifth placed Premier League team and Napoli have progressed well over the weekend, according to the claims.
The ‘white smoke’ could be imminent that would see Jorginho, who has long been linked with the English champions, join Chelseaand please the clubs fans, writes Pedulla.
