The Spanish media don’t seem to care what Crystal Palace are saying, they’re convinced Vicente Guiata isn’t 100% committed to a Selhurst Park move this summer.
With the English club announcing it and Roy Hodgson reiterating it over the past week, there seems confidence at Palace, but the claims still come.
AS report that not only does Guaita have an opportunity to move to Atletico Madrid this summer, but he now also has offers from Fiorentina and Napoli. It’s claimed Guaita would give his preference to a stay in Spain, and especially a club with Champions League football.
That helps Atletico, but unless Jan Oblak goes it’s unlikely Guaita would be playing in the competition. Oddly, Napoli and Fiorentina are presented as competition to Atletico, as if it’s the rojoblancos way out in front.
So what’s going on with Guaita and Crystal Palace? There’s the chance the new claims are ‘fake news’ but then it seems an odd subject for a Spanish newspaper to stir up.
There’s a good bet someone is pushing this story, and if it’s someone close to the player, maybe an agent, it’s a worry for Crystal Palace.
Originally the claims were that Guaita could back out of the deal if Crystal Palace were relegated, but now it’s stated the commitment isn’t complete anyway.
Maybe it’s worth the Premier League club having a word with the goalkeeper’s agent and making sure everyone is on the same page.
Life is never simple for Crystal Palace when it comes to goalkeepers.
