Besiktas president Ahmet Nur Cebi has spoken to Turkish TV channel A Spor and confirmed they’ve opened talks with Leicester City for the signing of Rachid Ghezzal.
The Algerian winger was undoubtedly the best player in the Turkish Super Lig last season, helping his loan side Besiktas to land an unlikely league title, ahead of arch-rivals Fenerbahce and Galatasaray.
In recent weeks there’s been speculation over his future at Leicester City and whether he will return to Turkey for next season. With the prospect of Champions League football there have been reports he could re-join Besiktas.
Speaking about Ghezzal, Cebi said he has no worries about the 29 year old’s return and he added, as covered by Fanatik: “I would like to keep this squad together for seasons to come as a president. For both Rachid Ghezzal and Valentin Rosier, we opened talks with their clubs. We are under no pressure, I am very relaxed. I hope both players will be with us for next season.”
Ghezzal, who has also been linked with a return to AS Monaco, made 31 appearances in Turkish Super Lig last season, scoring eight goals and providing 17 assists.
He’s contracted to the Foxes until June 2022, but his future looks uncertain with the Premier League side.
