Earlier on Saturday we covered claims from Calciomercato that West Ham are threatening legal action over the Pedro Obiang situation.
After a week or so of all kinds of stories in the Italian media, generally blaming the Hammers for raising the price and making a transfer difficult for Sampdoria, the Premier League club have had enough.
It seems like in Genoa they thought as long as they had the player’s will on their side, everything else would fall into place relatively easily. That hasn’t been the case and West Ham have become annoyed with the way intermediaries are working on the potential deal.
Manuel Pellegrini isn’t keen to sell the player and with Sampdoria throwing a tantrum over the price, things came to a head.
Gazzetta back the situation up and say West Ham have now withdrawn the midfielder from the market, deciding they don’t want to sell at all. It’s not just a question of price any longer.
It would appear Pellegrini has put his foot down, tired of the potential disruption the transfer is causing to his preseason.Whilst the Hammers’ tough stance is being backed up, it still wouldn’t be a surprise to see Obiang leave before the window closes, but it will be on West Ham’s terms or nothing at all.
