Nikola Milenković’s contract situation at Fiorentina has attracted attention from clubs in England and across Europe.

With his current deal set to expire in 2022, the defender has decided against renewing his contract with the Serie A side.

West Ham United are in the picture and three days ago, Calciomercato reported the Hammers ‘show strong interest’ over signing the centre-back.

On Thursday, we relayed claims made by La Nazione that the 23-year-old’s agent is set to arrive in Italy and that could accelerate the Serbia international’s exit from Fiorentina.

It was also stated La Viola are forced to cash in from his sale now, in order to avoid the risk of losing him for nothing next summer.

David Moyes’ side have made progress in their efforts to hire Milenković, if a report from TuttoMercatoWeb is to be believed. The Premier League side ‘increases pressure’ and have kept a €20m offer ‘ready’ to sign the player.

It’s even said the ‘agreement is close’ between the two clubs and the ‘intermediaries are working on hiring the Serbian’.

Although West Ham and Fiorentina are ‘close’ to agreeing a deal, the deal is pending as TMW warns Milenković’s ‘will still needs to be understood’, suggesting the defender is yet to make a final decision on the Hammers.
