David Moyes’ future at West Ham United remains uncertain as the Premier League side are looking for alternatives for next season.
Two days ago, TuttoMercatoWeb reported the Hammers have conducted fresh talks with Julen Lopetegui. On Tuesday, Gazzetta dello Sport stated West Ham have made an offer to him, but he favours AC Milan.
Wednesday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport explains the Serie A side have contacted the 57-year-old.
The Rossoneri are set to part ways with Stefano Pioli and start another cycle under a new manager next season. Lopetegui hasn’t returned to the bench since leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2023 and West Ham would be keen on bringing him back to the Premier League.
The newspaper claims the Hammers are willing to put a ‘higher figure on the table’ to secure Lopetegui and overcome competition from Milan in the process.
He’s taking time and is waiting for Milan’s effort, which hasn’t happened yet. The latter haven’t done it so far because they are also talking to other candidates.
If Milan were to continue to make him wait, it could give the Hammers an opportunity to get ahead and try to agree a deal.
