It was back in the summer of 2021 that West Ham United started being linked to Hellas Verona midfielder Antonin Barak.
Reports from the time said the Hammers could offer up to €12m for the transfer, which obviously never happened.
The 27-year-old has continued doing well for the Serie A side this season, and as he’s now highlighted by newspaper Corriere Di Verona, it’s now claimed he should cost a lot more in the next transfer window.
The outlet wonders if the final games of the season will be Barak’s last matches for Hellas Verona, as he already received offers in January and should now continue being a target.
What West Ham should be aware of is that the competition for the midfielder has only grown, with the likes of Atalanta, Inter Milan, Milan and Napoli all said to be interested, along with clubs from ‘England and Germany’.
Corriere di Verona says his departure wouldn’t take place for less than €20m.
Now in case the Czech Republic conquer a place in the World Cup and he continues doing well for his club, then his departure could cost between €25m and €30m.
Word of his price rising has been going on for a while. In January, when Barak scored a hat-trick, it was said that would block a potential €20m move to West Ham, as he was set to cost more pretty soon.
And it seems they were right.
