By the start of the week, the Portuguese media claimed that West Ham United’s offer for Jota Silva could arrive ‘at any time now’.
With the Hammers leading the race, it remained to be seen how much they’d put on the table, and if that would be enough to convince Vitória Guimarães.
Newspaper Record today shares a fresh story about Silva, also mentioning West Ham, and bringing some more details on the player’s price.
It’s said that in the middle of the season, Vitória planned to sell the player for €10m. Now, with the winger showing great form and recently called up by the national team, they want something close to the release clause, which stands at €20m.
This seems to be a big problem for West Ham. Record writes claims it’s ‘unlikely’ that Julen Lopetegui’s side will reach that amount for the player.
We should now wait and see how much the Hammers would offer, then, and if there’s any chance they could reach a deal with Vitória for less. Especially because the story doesn’t make it sound like there’s a big competition going on.
