According to a claim in the Italian media, West Ham United are considering installing Eduardo Macia as their sporting director.

TMW have reported Macia is a candidate to be West Ham’s new sporting director following the appointment of Manuel Pellegrini earlier this week. Macia held a similar position at Serie A side Fiorentina.

The Italian has already had a taste of English football following his time at Leicester City. In 2016 Macia was made Leicester City’s Head of Senior Player Recruitment during Claudio Ranieri’s reign with the Foxes.

However, Ranieri was to leave Leicester City just months later despite leading the club to the Premier League title the previous season.

Pellegrini this week has signed a three year contract with the Hammers after David Moyes recently left the London club. The Chilean’s former Malaga player Enzo Maresca has also joined his coaching staff.

Maresca had been the assistant to Vincenzo Montella at Sevilla and even though he was offered the chance to coach the Spanish side’s B team he decided to join Pellegrini at West Ham.
