West Ham United have opened talks with AS Roma over the transfer of Sofiane Feghouli, according to claims in the Italian media. The Algerian international only joined West Ham in the last transfer window, but has failed to make an impact since his arrival in England.
Calciomercato have today claimed West Ham are looking to offload Feghouli after just six months with the Hammers. Talks are said to be ongoing with Roma, and it’s claimed the two clubs hope to complete the deal quickly.
Roma have already had an offer for Chelsea youngster Charly Musonda rejected, and subsequently Feghouli is now their number one target.
It’s been revealed Roma officials recently travelled to London to hold discussions with West Ham as the Italian side look to bring in a forward in this window. Roma are hoping to take the player on loan with a right of redemption of €13m.
Feghouli isn’t the only West Ham player to arrive at the club in the summer and fail to settle. Slaven Bilic brought in Gokhan Tore from Turkey, but the winger has hardly figured, and is now currently sidelined with a serious knee injury.
Simone Zaza also signed on loan from Juventus with a view to a permanent move, but yesterday he returned to his parent club after making just ten appearances for the East London side.
Jonathan Calleri is also expected to leave West Ham during the current transfer window.
Unless West Ham are certain they can bring several players in then letting go of Feghouli wouldn’t make a great deal of sense, especially with a no risk loan for Roma.
