Over the past few months it’s become increasingly clear that West Ham have a target at Portuguese mid table club Rio Ave. Slaven Bilic has regularly been sending a scout to watch the club’s games, and West Ham are often the only English club with an official in attendance.
Of course, having a target at Rio Ave isn’t the most exciting idea for West Ham fans, but having a target at Porto may be.
Over the past few months West Ham have been sending officials to the Portuguese club’s matches. They had someone in attendance last weekend, and when Porto played Vitoria on Saturday, A Bola say West Ham had an official at the match.
They weren’t the only club, with Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City there too. West Ham have been repeatedly linked with Yacine Brahimi, and he came on for Porto with 15 minutes left of the match.
Francisco Soares was Man of the Match for Porto but he’s unlikely to be West Ham’s target, given that he’s only just joined Porto. Other reasonable targets for West Ham United could be Hector Herrera and Danilo, striker Andre Silva is much wanted but there’s talk of the fee being well over €40m.
Iker Casillas has been in excellent form recently, a move which could add some more star quality to West Ham. Perhaps any Casillas interest would be more from the boardroom than dressing room, given he’ll be 36 years of age in the summer.
