There’s been a lot of confusion regarding the potential transfer of Kelechi Iheanacho to West Ham from Manchester City, but it appears the offer is certainly there from the Hammers.

Looking to strengthen his frontline after last season’s failures in doing so, Slaven Bilic has turned to the Nigerian starlet, and it appears a deal could be done if one detail is ironed out.

Following news of West Ham’s alleged bid, reports emerged claiming that Manchester City, understandably considering the player’s potential, are demanding that a buy-back clause be installed in the deal.

While it appears the Hammers have agreed to this, OwnGoalNigeria claim what’s holding up the deal is a disagreement over what the amount of this clause should be.

The website explain that City want to be able to bring Iheanacho back to the Etihad for around £30m, while West Ham want that figure to be £40m, ensuring they make a healthy profit if they were to lose the talented forward to his former club down the line.

Furthermore, the duration of the clause’s existence is causing a few issues, with City wanting it there for four years, while West Ham would prefer it to only be applicable for two and a half.

With Sergio Agüero and Gabriel Jesus blocking his path to first-team football, it’s understandable that the 20-year-old would like to move, but with the Argentinean striker turning 30 next year and him entering the last year of his deal, a couple of good seasons could see him return to the Etihad quickly.

OwnGoalNigeria say a compromise is far from reached, but you would think something will be sorted out sooner rather than later, especially if City can make £20m+ out of the deal.
