On Thursday, Sky Deutschland journalist Patrick Berger made a surprise claim that West Ham United’s Niclas Füllkrug is high on Eintracht Frankfurt’s list for the winter market.
The German club could see Omar Marmoush leave for Manchester City as they are keen on signing him this month.
The West Ham player is an option for the Bundesliga side, according to Sky, and this claim is relayed by Bild, who then provide their own take on the 31-year-old.
Füllkrug joined the Hammers from Borussia Dortmund last summer and missed close to three months of this season due to an injury. The Germany international returned to the pitch in December and since then, he managed two goals and an assist in the league.
The striker is ‘not really happy’ at West Ham, but Eintracht Frankfurt are unlikely to sign him in January.
Bild state Füllkrug doesn’t fit into Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche’s transfer strategy even though they are looking for an experienced striker.
There are two ‘problems’, his high salary, and that the Bundesliga side aren’t willing to pay a high fee to buy him. Therefore, Eintracht Frankfurt seem to have ruled out a move for Füllkrug despite claims he’s high on their list.
