Pedro Obiang left Sampdoria for West Ham in 2015 and since then there’s been repeated reports about a move back to Italy.
Despite being Spanish, and starting off in the Atletico Madrid youth system, Obiang really came through the ranks at Sampdoria and it’s clear he still has fans in Italian football.
Corriere dello Sport on Wednesday cover potential Fiorentina transfers and say that Obiang is ‘back in fashion’ for the Tuscan club.
It’s explained the West Ham player has excellent physicality, great vision, and is able to keep possession well.
These qualities mean Fiorentina are following the West Ham player carefully. Corriere dello Sport believe a transfer could be done at around €10-12m and Obiang’s wages aren’t too scary despite him being at a premier League club.
But there doesn’t seem a whole lot of reasons for West Ham to sell Obiang. He’s a used member of the squad this season, and has a Hammers contract lasting until 2022, having only extended last summer.
