West Ham United made goalkeeper Alphonse Areola’s stay permanent in the summer, a year after they initially took him on a loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Frenchman is the second-choice keeper, behind Łukasz Fabiański. The latter has less than 12 months left on his contract and the possibility of losing the 37-year-old could see the Hammers look for his successor.
Sevilla’s Yassine Bounou, also known as Bono, may be an option for West Ham. Two days ago, Fichajes.net reported the Premier League side are keeping tabs on him.
Their interest in the Morocco international is also discussed by La Razón. It’s claimed that Areola’s failure to get ahead of Fabiański has seen David Moyes’ side set his sights on the La Liga man for next season.
Back in April, Sevilla extended the custodian’s contract until 2025 and improved his release clause from €30m to €50m.
Despite this, the report explains the Spanish club would be ‘willing to negotiate below’ €50m, as long as West Ham or any other team ‘presents an attractive offer’ to Bono.
