West Ham United are ‘seriously considering’ a move for Lille forward Jonathan Ikone but will need a ‘significant sum’ to secure his signature.
That’s according to Milan Live, who say the Hammers are competing with Everton and AC Milan for the Frenchman’s signature.
They explain Milan are looking at bolstering their forward lie in the January transfer window and believe it could end up being ‘decisive’ in their title bid this season.
One of the names linked in the summer was Ikone, but Milan chiefs Maldini and Massaara never made a ‘concrete offer’ to Lille for his services.
They remain keen on him, but the fact they will need a ‘significant sum’ to get him out of France means they’ve had to step back for the time being.
That’s seen other clubs ‘swooping in’, and one of those are West Ham, who are ‘seriously considering’ buying the Frenchman if they can.
There is no mention of the figure needed to get him or whether West Ham have done anything other than look at the situation at this moment in time.
It seems they are keen, though, and with his contract at Lille expiring in 2023, there’s a feeling the French side could be forced into a sale to avoid losing him on the cheap next summer.
That means there could be an opportunity for the Hammers, with this one sure to pick up pace the closer we get to January.
