At the weekend, reports coming out of the Belgian press explained that David Moyes still wants West Ham United to sign Club Brugge star Hans Vanaken.
The Hammers have already seen two bids rejected by the Jupiler Pro League winners. Their last offer was worth €11m plus €2m in bonuses.
On Monday, West Ham announced they have completed the signing of Lucas Paquetá from Lyon for a club-record fee. The Brazilian’s arrival has not stopped them from thinking about the possible arrival of Vanaken.
According to Het Nieuwsblad, the Premier League side are ‘not giving up’ on the Belgium international yet. They have time until Thursday, when the window closes, to complete a deal to sign him.
Despite Paquetá’s signing, Moyes’ side are ‘still interested’ in the Club Brugge captain and he is also keen to join them.
It remains to seen whether West Ham will have a new round of talks with the Belgian champions, and if the Hammers will make an improved offer to sign Vanaken.
Time is running out and the London club will have to act fast, if they still hope to secure the player’s services.
