One of the big stories on Thursday has been that of Sami Khedira telling the world he has a desire to play in the Premier League.

The 33-year-old, despite a great career playing for clubs such as Real Madrid and Juventus, has never had a taste of English football, and he made it clear he’d like to do so before hanging up his boots.

Considering his age, few in the top six will be willing to take a gamble on him, but the same can’t be said for clubs like West Ham United.

The Hammers have never been shy when it comes to taking the odd gamble, and securing the signing of a player of Khedira’s reputation would certainly be a statement.

It’s something they’re thinking about if Sport MediaSet, relayed by JuveNews, are to be believed, as the Italian outlet claim West Ham have been ‘on his trail for some time’.

The midfielder’s contract at Juventus is currently up in the summer with an option to extend it by a further year, but considering he has yet to feature under Andrea Pirlo, the Serie A side seem unlikely to trigger it.

That would be the window for West Ham, perhaps going as far as trying to get him in January, although that would cost some money.

Either way, it’s said the Hammers ‘could start negotiations with Juve in the coming months’, so that’s something we’ll definitely be keeping an eye on.
