Sunday was a great day for Mexican football. It was a great day for the World Cup and all around the world, apart from in Germany, people became a little Mexican for the day.
It was a 1-0 victory for the country over the current World Champions, but it could have been more than that. Mexico had Germany to the wall on tactics, inspiration and application.
Javier Hernandez was a big part of that, putting in an all round performance and providing the assist for Hirving Lozano.
It’s the PSV man who will see the most transfer rumours over the next month, especially if he can continue the way he’s started, but West Ham’s Hernandez may be getting some of his own.
Carlo Ancelotti was impressed with the player’s performance against Germany and sent some praise his way, and that’s led to Napoli orientated websites pushing a potential transfer.
CalcioNapoli have picked up some comments Hernandez gave to TV after the game, and quote the West Ham player saying: “Ah, the mister… I’ll have to give him some money for all the compliments. Come back to him? (as in move to Napoli) I don’t know, in the meantime I feel like thanking him for all the good things he’s saying. Ancelotti is an important man in my career, he gave me the opportunity at Real Madrid.”
Hernandez didn’t play an awful lot at Madrid, and he’s struggled to be first choice for West Ham too, but he’ll picking up rumours like Lozano if he continues his good World Cup form.
