As reported earlier, Duje Caleta-Car has travelled to London from Marseille to anticipate a potential transfer to the Premier League.
It was suggested that Southampton, West Ham and Aston Villa were interested in the defender, but the latter seem to have gone for Leander Dendoncker.
That leaves the Saints and the Hammers as destinations for the Croatian, which L’Equipe have now backed up.
The French newspaper state that West Ham and Southampton have ‘entered negotiations’ with Marseille regarding a move for the 25-year-old.
It’s made clear the player and the Ligue 1 side ‘are hoping to find a solution’ before the end of the transfer window on Thursday evening.
Regarding his trip to London, it’s explicitly stated that he is there to ‘save time’, meaning that should an agreement be reached between a club and Marseille, he wouldn’t have to go far to undergo a medical and put pen to paper on his new contract.
Now, we have to wait and see who between West Ham and Southampton make the best offer to the Ligue 1 side.
