Jonathan Calleri didn’t really want to join West Ham United, and it’s fair to say the Premier League club didn’t have him high on their list either.
West Ham tried to sign a good number of strikers during the summer window and what they did bring in hasn’t really worked. Simone Zaza has been quickly edged out of the door and Calleri is ready to rush through it after him.
The 23 year old Argentine had wanted a move to Spain in the summer, and now he’s set to finally get it. Spanish newspaper Marca say Calleri’s move to Las Palmas will be made official by the club ‘in the coming days’.
It’s seen as pretty much a done deal and Calleri will end his loan to West Ham and transfer, again on loan, to Las Palmas. The Gran Canaria club are said to have good relations with the third party investors who own Calleri’s rights.
Uruguayan club Deportivo Maldonado own Calleri’s registration, but it’s just a vehicle for third party investors.
Calleri had several approaches over a West Ham exit, and has plumped for Las Palmas. He believes he’ll get the minutes he needs to rebuild his reputation and get his career back on track.
