Some days ago, West Ham were mentioned as one of the clubs interested in Club Brugge’s Maxim de Cuyper.
AC Milan were said to be leading the race for the 24-year-old and had already established contact to land him in the summer.
More has now emerged in Italy about the full-back’s situation and West Ham’s interest in him.
Corriere dello Sport have reported today that while the Belgian would currently prefer a move to Milan, the competition provided by the Hammers and Arsenal can prove to be a threat. They have ‘courted’ the left-back already.
Potentially, West Ham have already received a boost in their move. That is because De Cuypers scored for Club Brugge against Aston Villa in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg. This has led to a rise in his valuation.
As of now, the Rossoneri can only offer a fee of €20m and competition is rising. Due to that, Club Brugge’s asking price can increase further and this can prove to be advantageous for the English clubs due to their higher financial capacity.
At the same time, Milan are yet to finalise the hiring of a new sporting director and this can delay their move for De Cuyper.
