On February 27th, we covered claims from Argentina which stated River Plate president Jorge Pablo Brito will do everything possible to sign West Ham United’s Guido Rodríguez in the summer window.

The Argentina international graduated from River Plate’s academy and represented their first team between 2014 and 2016 when Marcello Gallardo was the manager.

Gallardo started his second spell at the club last year and dreams of signing the West Ham player.

That’s according to River Noticias, who provide the latest on the South American club and the Hammers’ stance on transfer.

River Plate’s coaching staff feel the club have to find a partner for Enzo Pérez in the midfield. Their focus is on the 30-year-old, who joined West Ham on a free transfer last summer.

Rodríguez’s contract lasts until 2027, and the report states the Buenos Aires club will need around €15m to secure his services. The report doesn’t make it clear who came up with this figure.

The midfielder hasn’t made an appearance for over a month. Despite this, River Noticias state he’s a ‘very important player’ for West Ham and his transfer is ‘not at all easy’.

It remains to be seen whether River Plate will spend €15m and if Gallardo can convince Rodríguez for the transfer.
