West Ham United have reportedly reached an agremeent with Vitória Guimarães for the transfer of the striker Xande Silva.

According to Portuguese newspaper Record this Tuesday, the Hammers will be paying an initial fee of €1.5m for the 21-year-old.

The agreement also includes €2m in performance bonuses, which can be reached in the next couple of years. Vitória have guaranteed 10% of a profit in a future sale as well.

Silva, who spent most of the last season playing for Vitória’s B squad, should join West Ham’s U-23 team at first, and then try to conquer a place among the big boys.

Record claims that Vitória’s intention was to loan the player to a Portuguese club where Silva could have more minutes, so he could continue growing as a player.

But West Ham’s interest made the club change their plans. Even though the bid was much less than Silva’s €15m release clause, it was enough to convince Vitória to let him go.
