According to a claim in the Turkish media, West Ham United are set to make a move for Besiktas central defender Domagoj Vida.

Since his performances in the 2018 World Cup the veteran has been linked with a move to England, and more recently West Bromwich Albion were reportedly to be one of the clubs interested.

Takvim today report West Ham are the latest English side to take an interest in Vida, and it looks like they will come in with an offer for him.

Besiktas reportedly want the player off their wage bill due to their financial situation and there have been rumours throughout this window they’re working to offload him. Vida is one of the highest earners at the Super Lig side, with claims he is paid €3.5m a season.

Subsequently it’s stated West Ham will now ‘roll up their sleeves’ and come in with a €5m offer for the Croatia international. This is likely to be accepted by Besiktas as they no longer want the burden of his annual salary.

Vida still has a couple of years left on his contract, but it seems his spell with the Istanbul club is coming to an end.
