The next destination of Palermo defender Achraf Lazaar is still likely to be West Ham United despite interest from other clubs. The Morocco international is expected to be offloaded by the Serie A club this summer due to his current contract situation.

TMW have today claimed West Ham remain in pole position to sign Lazaar even though Marseille and Sporting Lisbon have been taking an interest in the player. Marseille have recently been linked with Lazaar, but as yet there has been no direct contact from the Ligue 1 side.

Sporting Lisbon have taken it a step further after they met with his agent in the last few days, but it’s still expected the left back will move to West Ham before the transfer deadline. The Premier League side are keen to bring in a left back following an injury to Aaron Cresswell.

Lazaar has just 12 months left on his contract with Palermo, and subsequently the Sicilian side want to sell him in this transfer window to get a decent transfer fee for him.

The 24-year-old has made 73 league appearance for Palermo since his switch from Varese in 2014, and has been previously linked with a move to England.

However, with Arthur Masuaku being announced as a new West Ham player, a move for Lazaar seems largely pointless.
