West Ham’s chase for Filip Kostic is over, according to claims coming from Calciomercato.it.
They report they’ve spoken to a source close to the Hammers who has told them that by ‘mutual agreement’ with Kostic’s camp, the London club have decided to end their transfer chase.
Should that be true, it doesn’t come as a great surprise. After various claims in Germany about West Ham making offers for the Eintracht Frankfurt player, there’s usually been some doubts in reports about what he actually wants.
There had been suggestions that Kostic was holding off a move to the Premier League side because there was another, bigger, club in the picture for him. According to Calciomercato, that would be Juventus who have ‘returned to the race’ to sign the Bundesliga player.
Kostic has less than a year left on his deal with Eintracht and doesn’t seem keen on a renewal, which presents the chance of a bargain transfer.
The report also states the player has been offered to Inter Milan in recent days. Obviously if those two moves fail then Kostic may feel differently about West Ham, although it appears David Moyes’ side are moving on.
