Aksam report Fenerbahce’s Slovakian central defender Martin Skrtel is still attracting interest from Rangers and West Ham United but the Turkish club looking are to keep him beyond this season.

Since last summer Skrtel has been linked with a move to Ibrox and a possible reunion with his former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard. In recent weeks Rangers interest in the central defender has reemerged, or at least reports of, whilst West Ham have also been linked with the player since the window opened.

The 33 year old will become a free agent at the end of the season and he’s now able to speak with overseas clubs with regards to a pre-contract agreement.

According to Aksam, Fenerbahce president Ali Koc is hoping to keep Skrtel, who’s been one of the most consistent players for the Turkish club since his arrival from Liverpool in 2015.

It’s claimed Rangers and West Ham have approached Skrtel’s agent over a potential move but Fenerbahce are looking to offer him a new contract.

The Yellow Canaries will promise Skrtel the squad will be strengthened over the course of the next two transfer windows.

The player has yet to make a decision regarding his future, says the Turkish media outlet.
