You’d think that, after signing Javier Hernandez, West Ham might be done looking at strikers this summer, but Le10 Sport in France seem to think otherwise.

The French website report on Thursday that the Hammers are ‘pushing strongly’ to sign Celtic’s Moussa Dembélé, with an offer for the striker already made.

Considering no one else has reported this, and West Ham have barely been linked with Celtic’s Frenchman all summer, we find that hard to believe.

What is far more likely, however, is the other information in the article.

While the sale of Kylian Mbappé still isn’t something Monaco are taking seriously for the time being,  there may come a time when that changes.

Always planning ahead (buying Jorge to replace Benjamin Mendy, Soualiho Meïté for Tiémoué Bakayoko and so on…), the principality club are, according to Le10 Sport, starting to think about the post-Mbappé era, and who could replace him.

A list of three to four names has apparently been drawn up, and among the players potentially targeted is Celtic’s Moussa Dembélé.

Already linked with a move to France when Marseille were said to be interested, the Celtic Park favourite has never really looked like leaving the Scottish Premiership champions, but, if the right offer were to come in, who knows what could happen.

Despite recovering from an injury likely to keep him out until September, the 21-year-old remains an active part of the transfer window, probably much to Brendan Rodgers’ displeasure, who would preferably like a second season with the France U21 international.

We’ll have to wait and see if West Ham have indeed returned to the fore for the former Fulham starlet, having seen a bid allegedly rejected in January, but, for now, we won’t be holding our breath.
