Claims from Nigeria that West Ham have agreed a £7m fee with Eupen for Henry Onyekuru contradict other claims from Belgium.

It’s not necessarily bad news for Slaven Bilic, with DH reporting that Eupen have dropped their asking price. What had initially gone up to €8m is now sliding back down to somewhere around €4-5m.

Onyekuru had been keen to leave Eupen during the winter transfer window, when Celtic made an approach for the player. So keen was the young forward that he went AWOL to try and force a move through.

Eupen stood firm, but made a promise to allow their star to leave this summer for a reasonable price. Not making a secret of his desire to move to the Premier League, amid the West Ham claims, Onyekuru has confirmed talks to move to England are ongoing.

There’s clearly something not fitting together with the claims, but if DH are right, West Ham won’t need their £7m, as Eupen will happily accept less.
