Currently in his last year of contract at West Ham United, Angelo Ogbonna has not been used much by David Moyes.
The defender’s appearances for the Hammers this season are mostly in the Conference League, and he’s only played 25 minutes in the Premier League.
That situation makes it unlikely that he’ll renew his deal with West Ham, and with a potential departure as a free agent, some clubs are already interested in his signing.
According to Diretta Goal, Ogbonna’s return to Italy could be on the table, as Lecce are now targeting him.
Fighting to stay in Serie A next season, they’re said to be looking for a player who can ‘lead the defence’, and see Ogbonna as a candidate for it.
Lecce, however, aren’t alone in that race, as Serie B side Frosinone are also said to be interested in the West Ham player in case they achieve promotion.
Both chases depend on what happens at the end of the season, as Ogbonna, who’s dubbed a ‘high-level’ footballer, would only accept a club in the first division.
