West Ham’s Andre Ayew, who has had a difficult start to his career at the London club after sustaining a thigh injury, has been speaking to the official website of his former club, Marseille (via Le 10 Sport).
The Ghanaian winger insists he is happy for his former club, after their 2-1 win against Nantes.
He said: “I’m very happy with the win and especially for the team, for the fans and for Franck Passi.
“I hope the group will continue to look up. If they continue like this, the fans will follow and the stadium will be full.”
Swansea striker Bafetimbi Gomis is on loan at the Ligue 1 club, and has been in impressive form.
Gomis was on the scoresheet against Nantes, and also created the other goal. Ayew says he is delighted for his former Swansea teammate: “We had to bounce back… I’m also happy for my friend Bafé (Gomis).”
Ayew has been splitting his injury recovery between London and Marseille, using his old club to help because they’ve worked him back to fitness previously.
