Felipe Anderson’s transfer to Porto last summer made some big noise in the Portuguese media, since he was seen as a Premier League star arriving on a temporary spell.

However, the West Ham player has been failing to impress lately, and the criticism towards his form has been repeated in the past few months.

At the weekend, former Benfica player Antonio Carraça was live on Canal 11 and made some pretty heavy comments regarding the Brazilian.

“This Felipe Anderson will never be a starter at Sérgio Conceição’s FC Porto. Even or further away: the real Felipe Anderson is missing in combat,” said Carraça (via Bancada).

“This Felipe Anderson, from my point of view, is a replica acquired at Chinese Alibaba. It’s not the real one.

“The real Felipe Anderson – whom we saw with pleasure a few years ago – is a technically surprising player. He’s a player with game speed, fast, balanced, who does magical things, which delight those who see him. The one we’d like to see is not here.”

Today, newspaper O Jogo had a story saying the player could have a new life at the club if used as a wing-back. But that didn’t work very well, as he had another chance for the club against Paços Ferreira, and was back in midfield.

Now in the past few hours, it’s Italian website Calcio Mercato who quotes the Portuguese media to claim that Felipe Anderson could be sent back to West Ham in the January transfer window. That means he wouldn’t be used in the Champions League clash against Juventus.

Felipe Anderson’s contract with the Hammers expires in 2022, and people at the club are probably wondering if loaning him out to Porto was a good idea.
