Of all the clubs doing business during this summer transfer window, it’s fair to say Sevilla have been among the busiest.
Monchi returned to the club just before the summer and set about overhauling the squad her inherited from his predecessor.
The most significant changes have come up front, with Wissam Ben Yedder and Luis Muriel departing to be replaced by Munas Dabbur and Luuk de Jong. It appears they are now keen to add a West Ham man to the incomings.
Dabbur is yet to feature for his new club, and there have been numerous reports in Spain he could be moved on despite only arriving this summer.
That remains to be seen, but it’s clear Sevilla are not happy with their forward options, and Marca confirm that.
They report Sevilla are scrambling to find another striker before the end of the transfer window and one man they’ve looked at is West Ham striker Javier Hernández.
The newspaper says Sevilla intensified contacts with the Hammers in recent days over a potential move for the Mexican striker. He’s not in Manuel Pellegrini’s plans and only has a year left on his current deal.
Sevilla and West Ham had negotiated a deal between €8-9m and the La Liga club’s boss Julen Lopetegui was happy for the club to sign the striker.
However, a deal is now seemingly off after Michail Antonio picked up an injury in midweek. That has ‘apparently closed the door’ on the move, although that could always change before the end of the window.
