Following Armando Broja’s successful loan spell at Southampton, we’ve spent the past couple of weeks seeing the Italian media publish many reports about interest from Serie A sides in taking him from Chelsea this summer.
It now turns out that a report from the local press points out there’s actually a Premier League club in talks to sign the 20-year-old, and that’s West Ham United.
It’s journalist Gianluca Di Marzio who today shows up saying the negotiation is ‘ongoing’, as Broja became the Hammers’ ‘first target’ for the centre-forward position.
The report makes it clear an agreement between Chelsea and West Ham is ‘not reached or close to happening’ for now. Still, the East London said are said to be ‘working’ on the signing, which could cost around £25m or £30m.
Featuring for Southampton last season, Broja scored nine goals and made one assist. Even though Italian clubs have been linked to him, it’s also been pointed out that with Romelu Lukaku’s expected exit from Chelsea, the youngster could end up having a chance to prove himself at Stamford Bridge.
Now with West Ham working for the signing, they must convince the Blues that letting him leave the club on a permanent deal would be a good idea.
