Today could see the end of the Maxi Gomez saga, with West Ham officials ‘desperately’ trying to get Celta Vigo to agree to take €50m in instalments, report Faro de Vigo.
So far, Celta have refused to do this, and are insisting the Hammers deposit the full €50m in Gomez’s clause. They’d have to travel to La Liga’s offices in Madrid, just like Manchester City did last week for Rodri, and pay the clause directly.
Usually, clubs negotiate the payment rather than it being paid by force. Atletico Madrid were set against losing Rodri at all, so they forced it, and Celta don’t want to sell to West Ham.
The Vigo club had agreed a deal with Valencia last week which would have seen Gomez move for €14.5m, plus bonuses, plus Santi Mina, plus the loan of a defender for two years. At the weekend it was reported Mina would likely make the move anyway, which was good news for West Ham, but now that’s being put under some doubt.
Therefore, Celta remain set against accepting the €50m by any other way than force.
Stellar Agency are now said to be asking for a €5m commission payment, which would be the 10% of the €50m, and their relationship with both Valencia and Celta doesn’t seem good at all.
Super Deporte say a ‘definitive solution’ should come today, with their local club Valencia ready to force the issue with everyone else involved.
