For the past week or so, multiple reports from Italy have credited West Ham United with an interest in Spezia’s Jakub Kiwior.
The Poland international is currently with the national team at the Qatar World Cup after enjoying a good run with the Serie A side this season.
His technique and defensive skills shown in the FIFA tournament have attracted attention from West Ham, AC Milan, Napoli and Juventus.
That’s according to La Nazione, who highlight the Hammers’ failed efforts to sign the 22-year-old in the summer window. David Moyes’ side made a €12m bid, but Spezia had turned it down with the hope of earning more money from his sale in 2023.
Spezia’s bet has paid off as the player is currently attracting interest from several clubs and ‘there is an auction’ for him.
Regarding West Ham, it’s claimed they would need to return with an offer ‘more than double’ what they proposed to Spezia in the last window. In other words, the London club must come back with a bid over €24m to sign the player.
The Pole may not leave Spezia in January, but it is possible that the foundations for him to change clubs after this season will be built in the winter market. This indicates West Ham or another club could agree a deal with Spezia for Kiwior’s arrival next summer.
