West Ham United and Nottingham Forest are in the picture to sign Le Havre AC’s Étienne Youté Kinkoué in the summer window, according to a report from France.
The centre-back joined the French club from Olympiacos in January 2023 and made 29 appearances, of which 22 were from the recently concluded season.
L’Equipe state several English clubs had watched the 22-year-old in action for Le Havre AC and this includes West Ham and Nottingham Forest.
The Hammers’ interest in the defender isn’t new as the report says they tried to sign him in January. They could make another attempt for Étienne Youté Kinkoué this summer.
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, who also owns the Greek club, knows the player well from Olympiacos. It’s not clear whether this would improve the Reds’ chances of securing his services.
The Frenchman has a year left on his contract and he could leave Le Havre this summer. There are several English clubs, including Julen Lopetegui’s side and the Reds, trying to sign him.
As well as West Ham and Nottingham Forest, L’Equipe say there’s at least one unnamed club from England and another from Germany looking at Étienne Youté Kinkoué.
West Ham and Nottingham Forest seem to be following each other around this summer, with multiple reported transfer tussles between the two.
