On Wednesday, multiple reports from Belgium stated West Ham United have made a new offer of €11m plus €2m bonuses to sign Hans Vanaken.
Later that day, these claims were confirmed by David Moyes.
Reports from Brazil yesterday stated West Ham have made a €40m bid for Lucas Paquetá, while Lyon ask for more money.
The Premier League side’s interest in the 30-year-old and the Ligue 1 man are discussed in today’s Belgium newspapers.
Het Belang van Limburg explain West Ham remain interested in the Belgium international, but have found an alternative to him in the form of Paquetá.
Over at Het Nieuwsblad, they say the Premier League side are still trying for Vanaken, who turned 30 years of age on Wednesday. Their interest in the Brazilian, who is six years younger that the Club Brugge captain, is also mentioned.
Despite this, the report adds the Belgian ‘doesn’t mourn yet’ because Moyes still wants him at the English club.
Meanwhile, Het Laatste Nieuws explain it is a ‘tried & tested tactic’ from Moyes’ side to bid for more than one player, as has happened with Vanaken and the Lyon player. With these two players, ‘West Ham are not yet finished’.
If West Ham want to sign Vanaken, then they need to make a new improved bid since the Jupiler Pro League winners want more that what they offered [€11m plus €2m] yesterday.
