West Ham signed Guido Rodriguez on a free transfer in the summer after his contract at Real Betis had expired at the end of June.
While he has been a regular for the Hammers under Julen Lopetegui this season, times aren’t great for the London side and they are far from where they want to be.
Estadio Deportivo have now looked at the Argentine’s situation and there’s perhaps some bitterness from them because Rodriguez snubbed the chance of a new Real Betis deal.
The outlet provide information that the midfielder had actually rejected a new deal at Betis due to the lure of Barcelona. The Catalan giants stranded him in the middle of nowhere, leaving Rodriguez to make a quick decision.
They state that the 30-year-old was ‘forced’ to join West Ham and they were never a top choice for him. It was a decision made due to the circumstances Rodriguez found himself in, with pride stopping him from returning to Betis.
They also note that Rodriguez’s performances aren’t meeting the expectations of West Ham fans and Lopetegui isn’t satisfied either.
It seems like an exercise in bitterness from Estadio Deportivo, who aren’t new to this – even though it might be true that West Ham weren’t his first choice in the summer.
