As tends to be the case each transfer window, Morgan Sanson is being linked with a move to the Premier League.

The French midfielder has been followed by many English sides throughout his career, with it dating back to his days at Montpellier, and while it isn’t teams like Manchester United after him any longer, it’s sides like Newcastle United and West Ham who end up next to his name in articles.

It isn’t that surprising, since both have a history of buying players from Marseille in the past, with the Hammers slightly more successful than their Tyneside counterparts.

Still, that hasn’t put off Newcastle, who, according to Le10 Sport, are one of three teams, alongside West Ham, to have shown ‘firm intentions’ to sign Sanson this summer.

The other is Milan in Serie A, and it’s explained by the website that Jacques-Henri Eyraud, Marseille’s president, has already turned down a €30m bid for the player ‘these last few months’, letting whoever put the money forward know they are now looking at a fee ‘closer to €50m’.

That’s quite the investment, even for Premier League sides, regardless of whether or not Newcastle might have a lot of money to spend this summer.

Down his end, it’s reported Sanson has switched agency, recently joining the team of the famous Pini Zahavi to ‘optimise an exit this summer’.
