West Ham United will need €15-20m to sign Arthur Cabral from Benfica, after already seeing a loan bid rejected for him.

That’s according to Mais Futebol, who report that Benfica will only sanction a permanent exit for the striker this month.

A report earlier today from Brazilian outlet UOL stated that West Ham and Torino had both made loan offers for the Benfica striker. These had both been rejected by the Portuguese club.

Mais Futebol say the same, reporting that Benfica turned down loan offers from West Ham and Torino for Cabral. This is because they only intend to sell Cabral on a permanent basis if he is to leave.

They’ve made it clear to interested parties that they are prioritising a permanent transfer for the striker this season. They want between €15-20m for the 26-year-old, who cost €20m when he was signed from Fiorentina in August 2023.

It seems Benfica would prefer to recover as much of that fee as they can this month than sanction a loan deal until the end of the season. That is even with a purchase clause being included, something Mais Futebol confirm West Ham were willing to offer.

Whether the Hammers now offer a permanent move remains to be seen especially after their big summer spend and the signing of Niklas Füllkrug.
