On winter deadline day, O Jogo reported FC Porto had opened talks with West Ham United over a move for Luis Guilherme.

There was a belief the Hammers were very open to letting him go out on loan, but the Dragons weren’t able to secure his services.

Thursday’s edition of Record has a short report on why Porto failed to sign the West Ham player in the recently concluded window.

The winger has had 53 minutes of action from seven games for West Ham since joining them from Palmeiras last summer. Hours before the window closed on Monday, Graham Potter named the Brazilian in the squad to face Chelsea.

Record indicate Potter’s decision to put Guilherme on the bench to face the Blues killed a move to the Portuguese club. Porto didn’t have enough time to complete the operation before the window closed.

Two days ago, UOL journalist Felipe Silva reported the Portuguese federation’s regulations stopped Porto from signing the South American.

On Wednesday, ESPN stated Botafogo are trying to sign the West Ham player before the Brazilian window closes on February 28th. It was also explained they held talks in London over a potential operation for Guilherme.
