Vaguely linked with a move to Sampdoria a few weeks ago, Edimilson Fernandes finally appears to be getting a move out of London Stadium, but he won’t be heading to Genoa.

According to Sky Italia, relayed by Calciomercato.it, the young Swiss midfielder is heading to Florence, where he will be joining Fiorentina via a lona with a view to buy.

The Serie A side are said to be paying €900k up front, and will be able to purchase the Switzerland international at a later date for €8m if they so wish.

Used rather frequently by David Moyes towards the end of last season, the 22-year-old never appeared to be a key part of Manuel Pellegrini’s side, especially following the club’s heavy recruitment this summer.

Joining West Ham from FC Sion in 2016 for just under £6m, it seems like the Hammers could end up making a profit on the young midfielder, who made 48 appearances with the London based club, scoring one goal and picking up one assist along the way.
