West Ham United are keen on Köln youngster Salih Özcan having scouted him for months ahead of the summer transfer window.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say clubs from three countries are keen on the 24-year-old after his performances this season.
They explain that while Köln sporting director Christian Keller has started talks with the midfielder over an extension to his current deal, which expires in 2023, interested parties are circling.
Fenerbahce, Besiktas and Galatasaray have all been ‘keen’ on the 24-year-old for more than a year, while West Ham have ‘been watching’ him for months.
They’ve got him ‘on their list’ of potential signings for the summer, with David Moyes sure to look to add to his squad after a year of fighting on multiple fronts.
At the minute, they’ve not made a move, and it is stated that if Köln were to qualify for Europe, an extension would be possible.
That would likely see the inclusion of a release clause for the following year, should a ‘top club’ come calling.
However, should they not get into Europe, then a move this summer is a distinct possibility, and West Ham are very interested after doing their homework on him for a while.
