West Ham United could find themselves in a bidding war for Fluminense winger Jhon Arias this summer, with several sides showing an interest in him.
That’s according to Canal RCN, who report that the Colombian winger is ‘one of the most desired players’ on the market and West Ham are very much in the mix for him.
Several reports have already linked the Hammers with a move for Arias, with it first explained that they were one of several Premier League sides considering a move before it was then stated West Ham would provide fierce competition for the player’s signature.
Canal RCN now pick up the thread and report that it is Atlético Madrid who seem to be the most determined to sign him at this this moment in time.
Sources in Spain have insisted that they are preparing a big for the player worth around €16m, but that may not be enough.
That’s because West Ham and Sevilla, and other sides, have also shown an interest in the winger and thus could ‘trigger a bidding war’ between the clubs that could see his asking price skyrocket.
There’s also the fact that Fluminense don’t particularly want to lose Arias and would need an ‘irresistible offer’ to change their minds.
One boost for West Ham is that the player’s agent is limiting the options put forward, recently insisting in an appearance on Vbar Caracol that the player will not be going to the United States, Mexico, Russia or Saudi Arabian football this summer.
