West Ham United’s insistence on signing Piotr Zielinski from Napoli gets a new update today.
CalcioMercato.it journalist Marco Giordano claims that ‘in the last few hours’, the Hammers made a new offer to convince the player to join them, after their original approach didn’t exactly tempt him over the move.
It’s said West Ham are ‘working on the psychological threshold’ to attract him to London, and now put about €6m per season on the table.
Previous reports from the Italian media claimed that Zielinski wasn’t particularly interested in joining the Hammers, and one of the reasons was the personal terms offer they had made. So this new bid may indeed be an interesting factor in the negotiations.
Giordano also claims that to convince Napoli, West Ham need to offer between €38m and €40m, including bonuses, which is a high amount for the player. It had been said the bid was around €20m-€25m, so the clubs look still far from an agreement.
According to the report, new contacts will take place ‘in the next few hours’.
